Rafique to retire

DHAKA: Bangladesh spinner Mohammad Rafique will retire from international cricket after the home series against South Africa, selectors announced here on Thursday.

Rafique, ignored for a recent tour of New Zealand, was recalled for a two-Test series beginning in Mirpur on Feb. 22. The tourist will also play three ODIs. “Rafique is our most experienced spinner. We have recalled him because our chances of winning the series depend on him,” Bangladesh’s chief selector Rafiqul Alam said.

He added Rafique had already informed the selectors that he would retire after the South Africa series. — AFP
