Emergency landing after bird hit
Special Correspondent
Guwahati: Passengers of an Indian IC 229 from Kolkata to Guwahati had a miraculous escape when the aircraft, following a bird hit, made an emergency landing at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi international airport here on Thursday afternoon.
Two tyres burst as the aircraft wheels touched the runway. Sources in the airport said the pilot had informed the Air Traffic Control tower of the emergency situation a couple of minutes ahead of the scheduled landing at 11.20 a.m. Airport authorities quickly activated the emergency rescue team including firefighting equipment.
