Chennai: Indian Overseas Bank overwhelmed Madras Blues 6-1 in the senior division hockey league championship at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Monday. The winner led 5-0 at half-time. Prompted by an early field goal by L. Anandan, IOB, the league champion, piled up the pressure to subdue the rival defence. A penalty corner by M. Sendhil enlarged the lead and this was followed by a goal from Senthil Kumar. Midway through, Olympian Adam Sinclair struck and before half-time Felix made the issue almost beyond doubt. In the closing minutes, IOB struck again through Saravana Kumar. A minute before the hooter came the consolation goal for Madras Blues through Durant Antony. Earlier, a field goal by Ayyappan in the first half helped Sports Authority of India ‘A’ beat Southern Railway ‘B’ by a solitary goal. Riju nets winnerState Bank of India defeated Madras Sporting Union 1-0 in a CFA senior division football league match here at the JN Stadium on Monday. P.C. Riju was the goal-scorer.
