‘Kalyanamasthu’ on March 9

VISAKHAPATNAM: The third phase of ‘Kalyanamasthu’ (mass marriages), being organised by the Government, under the aegis of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will be performed on March 9. Presiding over the ‘Kalyanamasthu’ district coordination committee meeting here on Tuesday, District Revenue Officer S. Satyanarayana said that the weddings would be performed in accordance with Hindu traditions. Girls over 18 years of age and boys over 21 can apply for participation in the mass marriages with the consent of their parents. Applications can be had from the TTD Kalyana Mandapams, TTD Information Centres, RDO, MDO, Tahsildar and Sarpanch Offices in the district. He said that an awareness programme would be conducted at the TTD Kalyana Mandapam at MVP Colony on February 4 to enlighten the people on the programme. TTD Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy would participate.
