Manipur wins title

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Manipur won the overall championship in the 53rd National School Games Taekwondo championships which concluded at the Jimmy George indoor stadium here on Tuesday.

Manipur, which came first in the girls section and second in the boys section, tallied 116 points to finish ahead of Maharashtra (96). The two States accounted for the lion’s share of the 16 gold medals at stake with Manipur winning six and Maharashtra three gold medals respectively. Team championship: Overall: 1. Manipur (117 points), 2. Maharashtra (96).

Boys: 1. Maharashtra (55), 2. Manipur (50), 3. Uttaranchal (25)

Girls: 1. Manipur (67), 2. Maharashtra (41), 3. Kendriya Vidyalaya (27). — Principal Correspondent
