HYDERABAD: Osmania University defeated a fighting State Bank of India 10-9 via sudden death in the fifth Rajiv Gandhi memorial hockey tournament, organised by Mohammadan Sporting Club, at the Gymkhana Grounds here on Tuesday. Bankmen took the lead in the first-half through Surender Singh in the 10th minute. However, OU equalised when Kushwant Singh was on target with a fine solo effort. In the second session, OU shot into the lead when Sai Kiran converted a penalty-corner. But, its joy was short-lived when SBI levelled the scores through Raghuram. In the tie-breaker too, the teams were level and ‘sudden death’ was introduced. OU emerged winner 10-9. Bhavana in finalBhavana Priyanka scored a 6-3, 6-2 win over Uttama Swaroop in the girls’ U-14 semifinals of the GHMC annual open tennis tournament at the Indira Park here.
