Maoist surrenders
VISAKHAPATNAM: Muvvala Vannama alias Vara, 20, a member of the Galikonda Dalam of the banned CPI (Maoist) group surrendered to the G.K. Veedhi Police, according to a statement issued by the District Police on Tuesday.
A native of Pedapadu village of G.K. Veedhi mandal, she joined the dalam in 2005 and worked for about one-and-a-half years in it.
She returned to her native village recently and was living in constant fear of reprisal from the Maoists for leaving the outfit. On hearing about the recent large-scale surrender of Maoists to join the mainstream of society under the ‘Shanti kosam’ programme of the District Police, Vara also decided to surrender before the police.
