Goud participates in a dharna at the Sripada Yellampalli project site in Ramagundam mandal ‘State Government keen on diverting Krishna water to Pulivendula Assembly constituency’
KARIMNAGAR: TDP deputy leader in the Assembly T. Devender Goud launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday for allegedly swindling public money in the name of execution of projects in Telangana region. Participating in a dharna programme at the Sripada Yellampalli project site in Ramagundam mandal, he alleged that the Government had taken up projects in the region only to siphon off crores of rupees as commission from contractors. Besides, the Government is taking all measures to divert Krishna water to Pulivendula assembly constituency, betraying the backward Telangana region, he charged. PadayatraMr. Goud said that he had completed his padayatra from Pranahita to Chevella demanding the State Government to execute the ambitious Pranahita-Yellampalli link project, but the Government has failed to start the project. “The Chief Minister is according priority only for the completion of Pothireddypadu works on a war-footing to siphon off water from Telangana region to his Pulivendula segment. But, the projects of Telangana, such as Yellampalli, Devadula, Kalvakurthy are progressing at a snail’s pace and there is no mention of Pranahita-Chevella,” he alleged. The future of SRSP, the lifeline of Telangana is bleak with the fast completion of illegal Babli and other irrigation projects in neighbouring Maharashtra. The only solace for Telangana region is the execution of Pranahita project, where there is plenty of water, he maintained. There is no water or inflows into the SRSP because of illegal Babli project, but the Government is completing the SRSP flood flow canal project works only to swindle commissions by escalating the project costs, he alleged. On the other hand, there is plenty of water in the Pranahita but the Government is not taking any measures to take up the project, he said. He said that they would raise this issue in the ensuing Assembly session and grill the Government for the neglect of backward Telangana region on all fronts. Works inspectedHe also said that land oustees of Yellampalli and other projects are not rehabilitated suitably. The TDP leaders also inspected the Yellampalli project and pipeline works.
