GCC, Khadir post wins

VIJAYAWADA: GCC registered a 168-run victory over Baron Software, while Khadir XI defeated Guntur Veterans by 80 runs in the Guntur District Cricket Association’s ‘A’ division league at Guntur on Sunday. Manoj Sai’s 104 for GCC and Saraswathi Reddy’s six wicket haul for Khadir XI were the highlights of the day.

The scores: GCC 217 for five in 37 overs (Manoj Sai 104, Md. Basha 42) bt Baron Software 49 in 14 overs (Sarat five for 30, Narayana five for 19).

Khadir XI 213 for five in 30 overs (Sairam 62, David 55) bt Guntur Veterans 133 in 27 overs (Venkatesh 45, Saraswathi Reddy six for 19).

Chess tourney

Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala is organising an inter-school chess tournament for boys and girls on February 1. Participating schools should send their entries on or before January 31 to G. Vanaja Kumari, lecturer, physical education, SDMS Mahila Kalasala, Vijayawada-10.

Camp inaugurated

Andhra Cricket Association secretary V. Chamundeswartnath on Sunday inaugurated the year-long under-13 intensive coaching camp organised by Krishna District Cricket Association at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium.

Big win for MSC

Mohammadan Sporting Club (MSC) drubbed Tarband XI 9-0 in the inaugural match of the Rajiv Gandhi memorial invitation hockey tournament at Gymkhana Grounds in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The winner led 7-0 at the break thanks to Subhan, Khaleel, Ali Bin Atalib who scored a brace each and a solo effort by Quddus. In the second session, Yassir and Nadeem struck once each to complete the tally.
