NEW DELHI: Bhawani Singh Kalvi braved a major blow on his face but still emerged top scorer with four goals as Kingfisher First defeated Cavalry Red 6-5 to win the Samaira Cup eight-goal polo tournament here on Sunday. Bhavani Singh slotted in three goals before he received a cut on his lip during a struggle to control the ball in the third chukker. He returned with as much vigour and slammed in one more goal soon after taking the field to put Kingfisher in a strong position (6-3). Simran Shergill had opened the account and he scored one more in the fourth chukker to seal the victory. In between, Cavalry shot back through Sailendra Singh and Ravi Rathore, who scored two goals apiece before the final hooter was blown. Navjit Sandhu was the other scorer for the Cavalry team. — Principal Correspondent
