KOLKATA: East Bengal bounced back to winning ways beating holder and current league leader Dempo SC here in a 13th round match of the I-League football played at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday. East Bengal’s winner came in the 69th minute when a Alvito D’Cunha freekick was deflected home by the Dempo defender Mahesh Gawli. Dempo, which has 27 points, is now challenged by Churchill Brothers with 26 points after its win against JCT Mills on Saturday. On the other hand, East Bengal continues to remain in the ninth position with 11 points, one point adrift of Viva Kerala which is in the eighth position in the 10-team tournament.
