Disabled man killed in road accident

His moped hit by MTC bus on Rajiv Gandhi Salai

TAMBARAM: A physically challenged 30-year-old man was killed when the moped he was riding was hit by a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (formerly Old Mamallapuram Road) near Thoraipakkam on Wednesday .

The victim, Murugan of Mettukuppam, was employed in a private firm in Sholinganallur. Physically challenged, he was riding a TVS Champ and returning home from workplace, when the accident took place.

The MTC bus was running Broadway from Tiruporur .

Shop burgled

Mobile phone recharge coupons worth Rs.1 lakh and Rs.30,000 in cash were stolen from a shop in Vettuvankeni, East Coast Road.

The burglary came to light on Thursday morning when Senthil, its owner, opened the shop. In his complaint, he told the Neelankaranai police that the coupons were worth Rs.1 lakh and of different mobile service providers.

Cash totalling Rs.30,000 was also missing, he said.
