Five arrested on charges of murder

Staff Reporter

TIRUPUR: Tirupur police on Wednesday arrested five persons on charges of murdering a youth, Dastageer, near Municipal Office here on Monday.

The arrested were R. Manikandan (31), K. Chandrasekaran (29) and S. Murugan (31) of Sathirapatty, Tiruchi; S. Balu (25) of Viralimalai in Pudukkottai district and Ravichandran of Manapparai.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan, they all are relatives and friends of Govindaraj, a financier of Tiruchi. The group had hired a gang from Tiruchi to murder Dastageer, who allegedly had killed Govindaraj over a financial dispute. The police seized two cars and a motorcycle, which were used by them. The gang intercepted Dastageer, when he was coming out from the Judicial Magistrate Court here after affixing his signature, and stabbed to death in a broad daylight. He was on conditional bail in Tirupur.
