Head Office triumphs

Head Office (Chennai) beat South Zone 2-1 in the last match of the five-team league to record its fourth win and regained the team title in the United India Insurance all-India inter-zone carrom tournament at Madurai on Wednesday.

Defending champion, West Zone finished runner-up.

National youth football

The 17th National youth (under-21) football championship for the Dutta Roy Trophy will be organised by the Madurai District Football Association at Madurai from February 1 to 17.

The participating 27 teams have been divided into eight clusters (5 clusters with 3 teams each and three with 4 teams each) for the preliminary qualifying league.

Cricket selection trials

The trials to the select the Tirunelveli district team to participate in the S.S. Rajan Trophy inter-district cricket tournament will be held at the ICL turf ground, Sankarnagar, at 3 p.m. on February 2.
