THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Host Mar Ivanios College ‘A’ overcame SB College (Changanassery) 91-71 to win the Mar Ivanios Trophy inter-collegiate basketball tournament at the Mar Ivanios courts here on Wednesday. Anoop Devasya (28) and K.R.Nikhil (25) did the bulk of scoring for the winner while Robin top-scored for the loser with 25 points. The results: Mar Ivanios College ‘A’ 91 (Anoop Devasya 28, K.R.Nikhil 25) bt SB College, Changanassery 71 (Robin 25). Narayanan shinesS. Narayanan’s allround performance (three for 42 and 75 n.o.) helped MYCA (Mattancherry) defeat Scorpions CC by five wickets in the 21st BPCL Kochi Refinery all-India cricket tournament’s first phase opener on Wednesday. In another match, V.S. Shiju’s five-wicket haul helped Globstar Telecom beat AG’s Office SRC by 91 runs. The scores: Scorpions CC, Tripunithura 167 for nine in 30 overs (A.K.C. Abdulla 56, Sunil Kumar 35, S. Narayanan three for 42, Anoop three for 22) lost to MYCA, Mattancherry 174 for five in 20.2 overs (S. Narayanan 75 n.o.).
