Surendranath scalps six

CHENNAI: Surendranath (six for 31) helped St. Bede’s ‘A’ score a 124-run win over St. Patrick’s in a quarterfinal league match of the TNCA-Boost city schools under-17 cricket tournament for the C. Ramaswamy Trophy here recently.

The scores: Santhome ‘A’ 252 for nine in 50 overs (M. Ashwin 57, S. Dinesh 43, R.D. Ashwin Kumar 36, E. Ganapathy 33, N. Varun 26 not out, R. Aashish Kumar four for 45, V. Ashok three for 46) bt Vyasa Vidyalaya 67 in 35.1 overs (S. Akesh three for 11).

Govt. HSS 245 in 49.3 overs (K. Mani Barathi 89, J. Asfaq 41, P. Sanjay five for 32, Ankit three for 50) bt DAV 64 in 34.2 overs.

St. Bede’s ‘A’ 234 for nine in 50 overs (M. Haaris Farvez 89 not out, B. Indrajith 39, Sohail 30, K.M. Dheeraj five for 41) bt St. Patrick’s 110 in 28 overs (Surendranath six for 31, Bharath Shankar three for 32).

Santhome ‘A’ 226 in 46.5 overs (E. Ganapathy 55, Varun Narendar 53, M.S. Sarath Kumar 41, A. Sachin Kumar four for 55, R. Sricharan three for 50) bt PSBB, K.K. Nagar 120 in 41 overs (M. Athreya 42 not out, S.K. Balaji three for 16, S. Akesh three for 18, R. Saravana Kumar three for 21).

Venkatesan bowls well

K. Venkatesan picked up four wickets for three runs to help Indira Nagar Sports Club beat Towers Club by five wickets, in the Madras Gymkhana Club inter-club Twenty20 cricket tournament for the Singaram Trophy.

In another match, Ravishankar’s 44 took Madras Cricket Club to a six-wicket win over Indira Nagar Club.

The scores: Indira Nagar Club 99 for eight in 20 overs (Vishal 22, Shanmugam three for 18, Ranjit Kuruvilla two for 16) lost to Madras Cricket Club 100 for four in 15.4 overs (Ravishankar 44, Krishna Prasad 26 not out, Sam David two for 26).

Towers Club 96 for nine in 18.5 overs (A.V. Mahesh 47, K. Venkatesan four for three, Vishal three for 17) lost to Indira Nagar Sports Club 97 for five in 13.5 overs (A.P. Ravi 24).

Nirmal slams century

P.S. Nirmal Kumar’s century took Trichy DCA to 221 in 68.4 overs, on the first day of the TNCA inter-district under-17 semifinal against Tiruvallur DCA, for the P.R. Thevar Trophy cricket tournament at the Murugappa Ground, here. Off-spinner M. Mukundan scalped four wickets for 22 runs for Thiruvallur.

The scores: Trichy DCA 221 in 68.4 overs (P.S. Nirmal Kumar 103, M. Prithviraj 33, M. Mukundan four for 22, M. Poiyamozhi three for 53) vs Thiruvallur DCA 68 for one in 23 overs (C.K. Deepak Kumar 41 batting).

Arun shines

A. Arun Anand (five for 24) shone in Santhome’s 27-run win over PSBB (K.K. Nagar) in the Vidya Mandir-Sportstar under-13 schools cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

In another match, V. Aditya’s five for 16 was instrumental in Sri Sankara SSS posting an eight-wicket win over Vidya Mandir ‘B’.

The scores: Vidya Mandir ‘B’ 95 in 30 overs (Arjun Arun 32, V. Aditya five for 16, Rahul three for 19) lost to Sri Sankara SSS 96 for two in 17 overs.

Vidya Mandir ‘A’ 99 in 30 overs (Vishal four for 14, Vignesh Rao three for 13) bt St. Patrick’s 77 for eight in 30 overs (P. Muralidharan three for 13).

Santhome HSS 144 for seven in 30 overs (V. Vignesh 49, Prasanna 25, M. Ashwath three for 34) bt PSBB (K.K. Nagar) 117 for nine in 30 overs (R. Akash 47, Arun Anand five for 24).
