Suleman enters final

HYDERABAD: Shaik Suleman beat M. Kirtiman 6-3 in the boys under eight years semifinals of the Tiny Tots Open tennis tournament organised by G.K.’s Trapeze Tennis Academy here on Tuesday.

The results:

Boys, U-8, semifinals: Shaik Suleman bt M. Kirtiman 6-3, Mourya R.K. bt Gautham Akash 6-1. Under 10: A. Shrenik Reddy bt M. Nikhil 6-4, T. Varun bt Mourya R.K. 6-3. Under 12: P. Srinitin Reddy bt Taha Kapadia 6-3, S.A. Wahab bt M. Sri Jitesh Swamy 6-4.

Girls U-8: Raveena Reddy bt P. Sivanuja 6-0, Nidhi Surapaneni bt Shaik Humera 6-1. Under 10: G. Sruta Kriti bt Mary Peter 6-0, Saranya Nagpal bt Hanisha Vasi Reddy 6-1. Under 12: L. Aishwarya bt Hanisha Vasi Reddy 6-3, G. Sruta Kirti bt P. Rashmitha Reddy 6-2.

Chess tournament

An open prize money chess tournament will be held at the Bhuvana Vijayam Community Hall, Temple Bus Stop, Third Phase, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally on January 24 and 25. The seven-round, league format event begins at 10.30 A.M. with entries accepted by Organizing Secretary Rangachary (9849727370) or Chief Arbiter K. Venumadhav Sharma on 9849496953 till half an hour before commencement.

Gautam hit century

Gautam Reddy’s 103 featured in India Cements’ first innings against South Central Railway Sports Association in the Airtel-Hyderabad Cricket Association Cup A division three-day knockout cricket tournament match here on Tuesday.

Div. A 3-day knock-out: India Cements 213 (Gautam Reddy 103, Md. Faiq three for 58) v SCRSA 342 (Shashavali 67, R.A. Vishwanath 62, A. Pradeep 80, Md. Faiq 53; Yuvraj Yadav five for 84).

A institution league:

Central Bank 185 (Shafiullah 35; Shamsunder four for 24, Sharat Reddy three for 30) lost to HMWSSB 189 for eight (Sunil Goud 43, Raghu 35; Johny four for 43, Shastri three for 39).

SAI STC trials

The Sports Authority of India Sports Training Centre will conduct selection trials at the Outdoor Stadium, Kurnool, on February 9 and 10 from 8 a.m.

These are for admission of residential boys and non-residential boys and girls in basketball and taekwondo, in handball for non-residential boys and girls and in football for residential and non-residential boys.

Date of birth certificates along with four passport size photographs must be produced at the trials. No travelling or dearness allowance will be borne by SAI, STC.
