Big win for Colts

Udhagamandalam: Colts Cricket Club scored a nine-wicket win over Youngstars Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-NDCA first division cricket league for the K-Lite Trophy at the Laidlaw Memorial School grounds.

The scores: First division: Youngstars CC 114 (N. Raghunath five for 38) lost to Colts CC 115 for one in 21.1 overs (B. Arun Prakash 51 n.o., B. Arvin 40 n.o.).

Easy for Rainbow Jeeva

Rainbow Jeeva Cricket Club posted an eight-wicket win over Tirupur Cricket Academy in the CDCA-Sri Ramakrishna Mills knockout cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds in Coimbatore on Sunday.

The scores:

Tirupur CA 73 in 23.1 overs (Sijo four for 30) lost to Rainbow Jeeva CC 77 for two in 11.5 overs.

Viswanathan’s heroics in vain

Viswanathan’s five for 18 went in vain as Dolphin Cricket Club went down by eight runs to Coimbatore Friends Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA third division cricket league for the Servall Trophy at the SNR Sons grounds on Sunday.

The scores:

Third division: Coimbatore Friends CC 198 in 44 overs (Viswanathan five for 18) bt Dolpin CC 190 in 41.2 overs (G. Karthikeyan four for 42); Janaranjani SC 197 in 50 overs (Raja 43, Adithya Vikram 46) lost to Senthil Srinivasan MC 199 for six in 33.1 overs (Collins Yuvaraj 58, Raghavan four for 30).

Fourth division: South Indian Manchester CC 223 for eight in 48 overs (Gopinath 56) bt Miracle CC 222 in 40.4 overs (Fargunan 65, Venkatesh 44).

Inter-school cricket

The CDCA inter-school group cricket tournament for the Saravana Jewellers Trophy will be held at the SNR Sons and Forest College grounds from January 22 to 24.

CDCA trials

The selection trials for the district senior team for the S.S. Rajan Trophy will be held at the Sri Ramakrishna Cricket Trust nets at the SNR Sons College grounds on January 25 at 4 p.m.

Only players registered with the league playing teams for the year 2007-08 are eligible for participation.

Football tournament

The fifth Rao Bahadur Sri Gopal Naidu Memorial Trophy football tournament for junior boys, organised by the Sri Gopal Naidu Educational Trust, will be held at the Gopal Naidu HSS grounds from January 22 to 25.
