Jha to meet Bakshi in final

CHANDIGARH: Abhishek Jha and Rahul Bakshi scored comfortable wins to set up a title clash in the 107th LG Indian Open amateur golf championship at the Chandigarh Golf Club here on Saturday. The final will be played over 36 holes on Sunday.

Bakshi, who is flying out to Malaysia on Sunday evening for the Asian junior championship, warmed up for the bigger challenge when he put out Malaysia’s Mohammed Arie with two holes to spare.

Young Jha, who has two wins on the Amateur Tour this season, put out seasoned Manav Das, four and three.

The two were level after the first nine, but Jha kept his cool and made pars, six in all, while Das struggled with bogeys and lost on the 15th hole.

The results: Semifinals: Rahul Bakshi bt Mohammed Arie (Mas) 3 and 2; Abhishek Jha bt Manav Das 4 and 3.
