Mumbai Marathon today
Mumbai: Over 30,000 runners will take part in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on Sunday morning.
John Kelai, last year’s winner at 2.12.27, Daniel Rono, the 2006 winner at 2.12.03 and Julius Sugut, the 2005 winner at 2.13.20 — all from Kenya — will be the star attraction for the main event that will be run over 42.195 km. In addition there will be Ethiopia’s Mulu Seboka, the women’s winner in 2005 and 2006.
“I have worked on all important areas. I take this race as the strongest physical and mental challenge. The unrest in Kenya has affected us more psychologically. If there is no peace then we are not fully here. But we have managed to train,” said Kelai. Kelai’s compatriot Rono said: “It will be nice to see how I will perform in the heat and humidity. I will run as a pacemaker, I am preparing for the Rotterdam event.”
