U.S. honour for Chennai-based nephrologist

Rajan Ravichandran.
Chennai: Chennai-based nephrologist and Director of Madras Institute of Nephrology at Vijaya Hospitals, Rajan Ravichandran, has been elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the society of internists. He is the second nephrologist from India to be elected Fellow of the ACP.
The honour is for achievements in internal medicine — the speciality of adult medical care. Dr. Ravichandran was elected on the recommendation of peers and a review by the ACP’s Credentials Sub-committee. A graduate of Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospitals, Mumbai, Dr. Ravichandran completed sub-speciality training in nephrology in the same institute in 1983. He was appointed visiting professor in the Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai, in 1993. In 1997, he was appointed visiting professor of the Tokyo Women’s Medical College. He was appointed adjunct professor in IIT-Madras in 2005.
Dr. Ravichandran will go for the convocation in Washington D.C. in May 2008.
