PROUD MOMENT: The Kozhikode team which won the overall championship in 48th State Schools’ Arts Festival held in Kollam. KOLLAM: Kozhikode district won the overall championship at the 48th State Schools Arts Festival, which concluded here on Monday. The district scored 637 points in the high school category. Education Minister M.A. Baby presented the gold cup to the winners. The host Kollam district was runners-up, scoring 628 points. Ernakulam came third with a score of 622 points. Kozhikode district had won the overall championship at the 47th State Schools Arts Festival held at Kannur. The district had scored 629 points. The score for the other districts in the 48th festival — Palakkad 615; Thrissur 605; Thiruvananthapuram 598; Kannur 591; Kottayam 586; Malappuram 581; Alappuzha 579; Kasaragod 564; Pathanamthitta 530; Wayanad 490; and Idukki 479. In the high school general category, Durga HSS, Kanhangad, scored the highest with 116 points. The runner-up in this category was Bharathamatha HSS, Palakkad, with a tally of 98 points. Little Flower Girls HSS, Kanhangad, with 97 points, came third. In the Sanskrit festival category, SC HSS, Ranni, topped with a tally of 98 points followed by Paripally A.S. HSS with 79 points and HSS Valayanchirangara in the third position with 77 points. In the Arabic category, MRV HSS, Padne, topped the list with 79 points, WOV HSS, Muttil, in the second position with 73 points and Government HSS, Kannur, in the third position with 62 points. In the PPTTI category, the Government PPTTI, Alappuzha, came first by scoring 88 points, followed by Government PPTTI, Nadakavu, in the second position with 86 points and Vidya PPTTI, Ollur, in the third position with 77 points. In the TTI category, DIET, Thodupuzha, topped with 51 points followed by Valumel TTI, Sulthan Bathery, with 39 points.
