Maharashtra girls advance

VIJAYAWADA: Maharashtra defeated West Bengal by a one point margin to reach the semifinals in the girls’ segment of the 53rd National School Games kho-kho championship held at Pangulur on Monday.

The results (quarterfinals):

Boys: Punjab bt Kerala 14-9; Karnataka bt MP 16-10; Maharashtra bt TN 8-6; AP bt HP 15-3.

Girls: Maharashtra bt WB 10-9; Punjab bt MP 19-11; Karnataka bt Kerala 20-4; AP bt Vidya Bharati 16-3.

MBP posts win

MBP XI defeated Railways ‘B’ by three wickets in the Krishna DCA ‘B’ division league here on Monday.

The scores: Railways ‘B’ 145 for eight in 40 overs lost to MBP XI 146 for seven in 28.5 overs.

Mini National archery

Vijayawada will host the mini National archery championship for u-13 boys and girls, being conducted for the first time by the Archery Association of India, from January 18 to 20, according to Krishna District Archery Association president Ch. Satyanarayana here on Monday.

The event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium and competitions will be held both in Indian and FITA rounds.
