Water released from Barur tank for first crop

It will benefit 4729.25 acres of land
|
Krishnagiri: Water was released from the main irrigation canal of the Barur tank in Pochampalli taluk on Saturday for the first crop.
According to Collector Santhosh Babu, water will be released from the tank from January 5 to May 1 for a period of 120 days benefiting 4729.25 acres of land.
Along with this, water would also be released from the east main canal and west main canal of the tank for the first 17 days.
Water level
For the remaining days water would be released once in three days depending upon the water level in the tank.
A total of 3212.87 acres in the villages of Barur, Kilkuppam, Pendarahalli, Kottapatti, Jingalkadirampatti, and Dadampatti would be benefited through the release from the east main canal.
Similarly, a total of 1516.38 acres in Barur, Kilkuppam, Arasampatti and Pendarahalli would be benefited through the release from the west main canal, Mr. Babu added. Kaveripattinam MLA D.A. Meghanathan was present.
