150 persons arrested for staging road blockade at Egmore

CHENNAI: Police arrested about 150 persons led by the Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangagalin Peravai president T.Vellaiyan when they attempted to stage a road blockade near the office of the Commissioner of Police at Egmore on Monday. The agitators demanded action against erring police personnel who were allegedly behind the custodial death of Syed Ali of Vadapalani.

The agitators were picked up near Pantheon Road junction. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Triplicane) M.Ramasubramani said the arrested persons were released in the evening.
