Stormwater drains would be constructed in Babu Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar and Angalamman Koil Street in Ward 28. Ambattur council meetingThe Ambattur council that met on Monday decided to call for tenders to mechanically segregate organic waste from non-degradable waste and put an end to the long-pending garbage disposal problem in the municipality. The council members conceded to a proposal to procure 10 sieving machines to segregate the 200 metric tonnes of garbage collected in Athipattu dumping yard daily. The project would facilitate reduction in garbage collected and yield revenue to the local body. The council has decided to give priority to non-governmental organisations to carry out the work.
