Tiruvarur triumphs

TIRUVARUR: Tiruvarur defeated Madurai by virtue of its first innings lead and booked a place in the quarterfinal of the TNCA under-17 inter-district cricket tournament here on Friday.

The scores:

Tiruvarur 300 in 80.1 overs (S.V. Narendran 82, Raja Udayasuriyan 52, R. Rajagopal 47, Abrareesa five for 21) & 65 for five in 14 overs (Narendran 38, Abrareesa three for 32) vs. Madurai 242 in 90.2 overs (Abrareesa 70, Thirumurugan 40, Thangachelvan 31, Anees Ahmed 31, S. Muthiah three for 32, K. Surendar three for 22). (Tiruvarur won by virtue of its first innings lead).
