Parekh does well

CHENNAI: Goutham Parekh of Team WSRF with Leela won two races in round two of the third edition of the JK Tyre junior racing cup at the Irungattukottai track on Saturday

In all 15 riders were in the fray in the Formula Maruti category. Goutham won the first two races and in the final race, his team mate Suhail Sabharwal emerged a comfortable winner.

In pole position for Race 1, Gautam, a final year engineering student from Chennai, capitalised on a good start. The contest was essentially for the second place where Rohit Khanna edged Suhail.

In Race 2 Goutham started in sixth place and went up to record a remarkable win. Finishing second and third were racers from Team WSRF with Leela, Prithveen Rajan and Suhail Sabharwal. Race 3 saw Goutham being bogged down by vehicle problem allowing Suhail to race away. Sudanand Rajan and Prithveen Rajan — also from Team WSRF with Leela — finished next in that order.

The final two races of the championship will be held on Sunday, starting 10 a.m. Entry for the public is free.
