Blueline bus operator and owner arrested

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The contractor and owner of the bus that had mowed down seven people at Badarpur here about three months ago have been arrested. The bus contractor, Nawab Khan, and its owner, Manish Kakkar, vanished from the scene after the police registered a case against them. However, the bus driver, Anil Kumar, was arrested.

According to the police, Manish was arrested at Noida and Nawab at Badarpur in Delhi on Wednesday. During interrogation, they purportedly disclosed that the speed-governor of the vehicle had been tampered with. The accident took place on October 7 when the Blueline plying on route 460 ploughed into a waiting crowd at a temporary bus stop in Badarpur.
