Former SDM charged with misappropriating land

Chandigarh: Two Government officers, including a former Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), have been charged with misappropriating panchayat land in Gurgaon district in 2004-05.

Five cases have been registered in this regard against Vivek Padam Singh, who was posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)-cum-assistant collector and V. S. Malik, then District Development and Panchayat Officer, according to an official release issued here on Tuesday.

The investigation of these cases has been given to police officers of the rank of ACP. Cases of corruption and forgery have been registered against the former SDM under various Sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act in police stations of Sector-5, 56 and Sadar of Gurgaon. PTI
