The Dramatic Association and Students’ union of the university are organizing the three-day inter-college cultural festival with the help of the administration. Participants from colleges of different parts of the State have reached the Berhampur University campus to participate in the cultural fest. To give it some colours of a carnival, the organisers had thought up to begin it with a rally including traditional folk music and dance of Ganjam district. The ‘Jodi Sankha’ (double conch) players of Ganjam district, who are experts in blowing conch shells for hours together were performed along with beats of traditional drums. A troupe of Ranapa dancers, who dance on stilts were also part of the rally. The students of the university and participants of Winterfest took part in this rally dancing to the traditional beats.
