Seven-wicket win for Punjab

MOHALI: Punjab completed its first win of the season in the Ranji Trophy super league, knocking off the 58 runs it needed against Orissa on Thursday.

Ravi Inder, who resumed on 47, scored 74 before being dismissed, with Punjab on the doorstep of victory. Captain Pankaj Dharmani had earlier retired hurt, but the home side reached the target of 175 with few alarms.

The seven-wicket win, which earned Punjab five points, had been set up by V.R.V. Singh’s five-wicket burst (including a hat-trick) on Wednesday.
