Selva Ganapathy, Pandiyan shine

Karaikudi: A high-scoring match between Devakottai Cricket Club and Aruna Sports Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-Sivagangai District Cricket Association ‘A’ division league ended in a draw, due to bad light, recently.

The features of the match were an unbeaten century by Selva Ganapathy (138 not out) for Devakottai CC and a century by Pandiyan (111) for Aruna Sports CC.

In another match, Srinivasan’s five for 21, including four wickets in an over with hat-trick, was in vain as his team Leaders CC lost to Sachin Brothers CC by three runs.

The scores: ‘A’ Division: Devakottai CC 331 for six in 50 overs (Selva Ganapathy 138 not out, Balamurugan 49) drew with Aruna Sports CC 308 for eight in 45 overs (Pandiyan 111, Kasiviswanathan 72).

Sachin Brothers CC 162 in 34.5 overs (Sivakumar 74, Meyyar four for 25, Srinivasan five for 21, incl. hat-trick) bt Leaders CC 159 in 39.4 overs.

‘C’ Division: Optra Computers CC 126 in 23.1 overs (Rajaram 42, Prabu four for 22) bt Sunlight CC 125 for nine in 25 overs.

Alagappa Govt. Arts College 147 for nine in 27 overs (Pandimuthu 58 not out) bt Moonlight CC 100 in 26 overs (Rajkumar four for 13).

Senshare CC 124 in 25 overs (Senthil Kumar 54, Karuppiah four for 13) lost to Alagappa University College of Physical Education 125 for seven in 19.4 overs (Balamurugan 59).

Moonlight CC 63 in 20 overs lost to AUCPE 64 for eight in 14.4 overs (Alardeen five for 13).

Guthoosh pots a win

Guthoosh of Pot Black Centre beat R. Vijayan of Madurai Union Club 42-41, 67-22, 33-66, 31-68, 71-33 for his second win in the semifinal round robin league of the Madurai Union Club’s 125th year District-level snooker-ranking tournament at Madurai on Tuesday.

League: M.J. Rajesh (MUC) bt Vijayan 61-69, 34-75, 66-23, 67-37, 57-37; Guthoosh bt Khaja (BK) 76-29, 63-58, 66-18.
