Doctors’ strike: JVV leader flays State

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: Expressing solidarity with agitating doctors , Jana Vignana Vedika State committee member K. Siva Babu on Sunday found fault with the Government for “failing to ensure protection to the doctors”.

Dr. Siva Babu said at a press conference that even within 48 hours of junior doctors calling off their strike, two incidents of assault on doctors had been reported from different places in the State. “These incidents raise doubts among the doctors about the Government’s assurances,” he said.

He said that the doctors’ demands, which include registration of non-bailable cases against those who attack doctors and institution of an inquiry by an official of the rank of DSP, were quite justifiable. “The Government should bring out an ordinance to provide proper environment for doctors to discharge their duties without fear,” he said.
