Group-I notification on December 27

5,000 posts in various Government departments to be filled

HYDERABAD: Nearly 5,000 posts in various Government departments would be filled, including the Group-I and Group-II services and the notifications concerned issued this month.

APPSC Chairman Y. Venkatrami Reddy told a press conference here on Thursday that 157 posts of Group-I services and 1,375 posts in the Group-II services are included in the proposed recruitment drive that is likely to be completed in nine months. The notification for Group-I services would be issued on December 27 and the Group-II services the next day.

He said two lakh candidates are expected to compete for the Group-I posts and seven lakh for the Group-II services. If the Government gives the indent of Deputy Tahsildar posts before the notification is issued they would be added to the present vacancies. Prof. Reddy said the maximum age limit would be 38 years for the general candidates and relaxations would be given to the reserved categories as per the present policy.

For the physically-challenged candidates, five years relaxation would be extended in the maximum age limit and candidates under the same category in the Government service would get an additional relaxation of their service period with the maximum limit being five years.

He said July 1, 2007 would be considered as the cut-off date for calculating the age.

The Group-I vacancy includes 46 posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police, 34 of Commercial Tax Office and 43 of Assistant Audit Officers.

The Group-II services include 184 posts of Assistant Commercial Tax officers, 78 of Prohibition & Excise sub Inspectors and 78 of Grade-II Sub-Registrars. He said 3,439 posts are from other than Group-I and Group-II services. But they are sought-after by the candidates.

The APPSC also released its magazine ‘Udyoga Samacharam’ containing details of the syllabus for all the services and the model papers in both English and Telugu for the benefit of the aspirants. Prof. Reddy said the details would give a fair idea of the test in view of the new model being tried out this time.

Apart from the revised syllabus, the papers would be common for everyone as the optional subjects have been withdrawn. Prof. Reddy said the reforms received appreciation from all quarters.
