KOLKATA: The 67th Amateur Rowing Association of the East championship got off to a fine start at the Rabindra Sarobar Lake here on Wednesday. The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club failed to arrive leaving only 10 teams in the fray. On the opening day of the four-day meet, form played true with top contenders advancing to the next round with easy wins. The College of Military Engineering (CME), however, lost in the single sculls to Bengal Rowing Club and the pair’s event to Lake Club.
