Exit polls unreliable, says Venkaiah

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has dismissed the Gujarat exit poll findings as “unreliable,” saying there had been huge variations between these and the actual results in the past.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, he said only a small sample was used for the exit polls, which was not representative of the voting that would be seen in the State. The party preferred to go by the poll results rather than the predictions by psephologists.

Mr. Naidu said the announcement that L.K. Advani would be the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate in the next elections had rattled the UPA, and had pushed that party to the defensive.
