Montfort clinches football title

Salem: Montfort AIHSS (Yercaud) blanked YMCA Sports Hostel (Chennai) 3-0 to emerge the football champion in the senior category of the 50th State-level Republic Day games meet at the Little Flower HSS grounds on Tuesday.

The result: Final: Montfort AIHSS (Yercaud) 3 bt YMCA Sports Hostel (Chennai) 0.

At Udhagamandalam, a five-wicket haul by M. Shajahan (five for 21) saw Rising Stars Cricket Club score a 105-run win over Divis Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-NDCA ‘C’ division league for the Kairbetta Estates Syndicate Rolling Trophy at the Cordite Factory grounds on Wednesday.

The scores: Rising Stars 200 bt Divis CC 95 (M. Shajahan five for 21).

At Coimbatore, the PSG College of Arts and Science will conduct State level inter-collegiate tournaments in football and basketball at its campus from January 7 to 11 and January 21 to 23.
