NEW DELHI: India “strongly condemned” the attack by alleged Al-Qaeda militants in Algeria on Tuesday, killing several civilians and aid workers. “The terrorist attack, that targeted Algeria’s Constitutional Court and the United Nations mission, killing dozens of people clearly reveal the serious threat that terrorism poses to the security of nations and to international organisations. Terror’s true faceThe indiscriminate targeting of innocent people exposes terrorism’s true face. No cause, no grievance, can ever justify acts of terrorism,” said a Foreign Office news release. “We stand by with friendly Algeria, in this hour of their grief and in their fight against new threats of extremism and terrorism. We reiterate our stand that the international community should cooperate closely to counter terrorism with firmness and determination,” it added. The United Nations has said that 11 of its staff were killed by one of the suicide bombers while another bomb targeting Algeria’s apex court killed several persons in a passing bus.
