SRIVILLIPUTTUR: K. Ramasamy, a Councillor of the Srivilliputtur Municipality, was remanded to judicial custody under the provisions of Wildlife Protection Act 1972, on Wednesday.

The Councillor belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party has been charged of releasing a monitor lizard (‘udumbu’), which he had caught, into the forest without informing the forest officials, recently. — Staff Reporter
