Thangadurai stars in Vampire’s win

Salem: A fine knock of 129 by M. Thangadurai took Vampire Cricket Club to a 97-run win over Pals CC in the Twenty20 City league cricket tournament organised by the Salem District Cricket Association here recently.

The scores: Pool A: Venkatramana CC 160 in 20 overs (P.G. Perumal 39, Chandramouli three for 29) lost to Students Sr. CC 162 for two in 18.3 overs (K.P. Yuvaraj 50 n.o., P. Manikandan 46, P. Balachandar 32).

Youngstar CC 125 for eight lost to AVR CC 126 for eight in 19.5 overs.

SRS CC 53 in 11.1 overs (Nagarathinam four for 22) lost to Blue Star CC 54 for one in 5.4 overs.

Vampire CC 222 for four in 20 overs (M. Thangadurai 129, M. Nirmal Karthik 54) bt Pals CC 125 in 19.4 overs (B. Arun Pradeep three for 25).

Gandhiji CC 132 for nine in 20 overs (Ajay Sharma 37, Chennimalayan three for 21) bt Davaram SC 95 in 17.1 overs (Shanmugam 35, Ajay Sharma three for 15, Periyannan three for 19).

Selection trials

The selection trials for the Coimbatore district volleyball team to take part in the fifth senior inter-district championship at Nesco, Kalpakkam, will be held at the VOC Park Corporation Sports Complex courts, Coimbatore on December 15 at 2.30 p.m.

Rockers posts win

At Udhagamandalam, Rockers CC defeated Zeal Guys CC by 36 runs in the Canara Bank-NDCA C division cricket league for the Kairbetta Estates Syndicate Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence School grounds on Tuesday.

The scores: C division: Rockers CC 237 for seven in 40 overs (S. Saran Kumar 68, K. Ganesh 75) bt Zeal Guys CC 201 (K. Dinesh Kumar 42, S. Antony Raj 56, Mithun Thomas four for 46).

Venugopal advances

Anna Venugopal of Sourashtra Club beat Imthathullah of Pot Black Centre 41-29, 43-39 in the Madurai Union Club’s 125th year District-ranking snooker tournament at Madurai on Sunday.
