Andhra girls enter semifinals

HYDERABAD: Andhra girls defeated Mumbai 29-8, 29-3 in the quarterfinal of the 27th sub-junior national ball badminton championship being held in Godavarikhani (Karimnagar) on Monday, according to information received here.

The results: quarterfinals: boys: Kerala bt Hyderabad 29-18, 29-15; Karnataka bt Chattisgarh 29-8, 29-22; Andhra bt Maharashtra 29-1, 29-2; Tamil Nadu bt Chandigarh 29-3, 29-16.

Girls: Tamil Nadu bt Hyderabad 29-17, 29-23; Andhra bt Mumbai 29-8, 29-3; Karnataka bt Chandigarh 29-4, 29-3; Kerala bt Chattisgarh 29-3, 29-16.

Krishna Murthy wins

O. Krishna Murthy defeated T.E.T. Chary 11-6, 11-4, 11-5 in the 70 years & above category singles final of the AP State veteran ranking table tennis tournament at Gujarati Seva Mandal here.

40-44 years: Hemanth Kumar bt Srinivas 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 ; 45-49 years: Natraj Sharma bt Surya Gopi 11-8, 11-6, 11-7; 50-54 years: Ankushved bt B.M.S. Reddy 11-7, 11-9, 11-5; 55-59 years: S.P. Jagannath bt D.R. Chougule 4-11, 12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 11-3; 60-64 years: G.V.S.V. Rao bt D. Devendranath 11-5, 11-3, 8-11, 11-5; 65-69 years: T.S. Anand Rao bt R. Rainbow XI scores win

Rainbow XI scored a solitary goal win over Friends United Club in the Susai memorial football championship at Trimulgherry Grounds here.

The winner came through striker Ramakrishna of a pass from left-half Nagaraj in the 22nd minute of the first-half.
