Alonso signs with Renault

Madrid: Two-time Formula One World champion Fernando Alonso is heading back to Renault on a two-year contract. Alonso and Brazilian Nelson Piquet junior will race for Renault in an all-new line-up next season, the Formula One team announced on Monday.

“Fernando and Nelsinho will form one of the most exciting driver lineup of 2008,” Renault managing director Flavio Briatore said.

“I am delighted to be returning to Renault,” Alonso said in a statement. — AP
