BANGALORE: Dramatic scenes were witnessed once again at the hockey stadium. In the ongoing ‘A’ division league hockey tournament, Army Services Corps was pitted against Dhanraj Ballal Hockey Academy and in the 47th minute ASC players claimed a goal had been scored. The officiating umpire, however, had deemed the play was dangerous and had disallowed the goal. The decision upset the ASC team and its players staged a walkout. Despite a number of pleas, ASC refused to play. The tournament committee decided after a meeting that ASC would be scratched from the tournament fixtures. DBHA, its opponent for the day’s fixture, was awarded the match with full points and a winning scoreline of 5-0. In fact, all ASC’s previous opponents in the tournament thus far have been awarded full points and five goals credited to its goal aggregate. This includes teams that ASC had beaten or drawn matches against. Earlier in the first match, Centre of Excellence beat Rail Wheel Factory 7-1. Raghunath had a field day scoring five goals (13th, 31st, 33rd, 37th and 54th). Danish Mujtaba (46th and 55th) slotted home a brace. — Special Correspondent
