Citymax plans to invest around Rs. 40 crore To target executives in the 25-45 age group NEW DELHI: Already running around 770 outlets in over 30 countries, including 435 in Australia, the U.S.-based coffee retail giant, Gloria Jean’s Coffees, has joined hands with hospitality major Citymax India to launch a chain of coffee houses across India. A part of the Dubai-based global retail giant, Landmark Group, Citymax plans to invest around Rs. 40 crore to roll out 90 outlets throughout India in the next four years to tap the potential, starting with the first outlet in Mumbai by February 2008 to be followed by similar units in New Delhi in June and then in Bangalore. “The organised coffee retail business in India is over Rs. 80 crore. At present, there are 1,200 coffee outlets and the number is set to increase to 2,500 in the next four years. There is a huge potential to grow... ,” Citymax India Managing Director, Ravi Saxena, said while announcing their tie-up. Citymax would promote the Gloria Jeans Coffees brand in India through franchising, he said. Gloria Jeans’ International Regional General Manager, Troy Franklin, said “Gloria Jeans Coffees will offer a five-star coffee shop experience, but at affordable rates. It will target executives and professionals in the 25-45 age group. The USP (unique selling proposition) of the brand would be the use of top quality beans and enhanced service standards.
