Reshma in under-16 singles final

BANGALORE: It was a good day for the talented Reshma Karthik in the Bowring Institute State junior-ranking badminton tournament at the club courts here on Wednesday.

Reshma entered the girls under-16 singles final with a 21-16, 21-16 win over Sindhu Bharadwaj and she will meet the top seed, Uttara Prakash in the final.

Uttara beat Sheetal 21-9, 21-9.

Reshma also made the semifinals in the girls’ under-13 singles with a 21-4, 21-5 victory over Arsheen.

In the boys’ section, Abhishek and Linganand won the under-10 doubles title beating Nikhil Sriram and Nimrit Kaushik 21-8, 21-12 in the final.

Boys: Under-10: Quarterfinals: Mithun Mnajunath bt Linganand 21-11, 21-9; Syed Sadat Ali bt Nikhil Sriram 16-21, 21-18, 21-15; Abhishek w/o Vignesh; Nirmit Kaushik bt Aditya 9-21, 21-15, 21-18. Doubles final: Abhisehk & Linganad bt Nikhil Sriram & Nirmit Kaushik 21-8, 21-12.

Under-13: Quarterfinals: Vishwsnath Kiran bt Sankeerth 21-16, 21-13; Sudeep Suresh bt Vishal Bhat 21-11, 21-6; Sridhar bt A.Likith 19-21, 21-9, 21-9; M.C.Srivas bt Mithun Manjunath 21-9, 21-15.

Girls : Under-13: Quarterfinals: Reshma Karthik bt Arsheen 21-4, 21-5; Meera Mahadevan bt Monisha Gowda 21-13, 21-8; Priya Prakash bt Mahima 21-11, 21-13; B.Sindhu bt Sanchita 212-11, 21-9.

Under-16: Semifinals: Uttara Prakash bt Sheetal 21-9, 21-9; Reshma Karthik bt Sindhu Bharadawaj 21-16, 21-16.

Easy for SAI ‘B’

SAI ‘B’ crushed BEML 4-0 in the KSHA ‘A’ division hockey league championship here on Wednesday.

Regan (seventh minute), Nagaraj (28th) and Somanna (34th) scored in the first half while Ramesh (53rd) completed the tally in the second session.

In another tie, ASC rode on a twin strike by Haro (13th and 28th) to a 2-0 win over Coorg Blues.

Ponnappa wins

I.K. Ponnappa, with 34 points, won the title in the division I (0-9 full handicap) event of the Bengalooru Habba golf tournament held at KGA course here on Wednesday.

The other winners were B.N.S. Reddy (division II), T.K. Joseph (division III) and M.S. Kamath (division IV-veterans).

Special prizes were given to Charu Sharma (closest to pin) and Dhanalakshmi Rice (longest drive).

Kensri tennis tournament

Kensri School will conduct an under-10 tennis tournament for school children at the school courts here on December 8.

Sporting Youths wins

Sporting Youths defeated Bangalore Reds 2-1 in a ‘C’ division football league match at the 515 Army Base Workshop ground in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Deepak (25th) and Srinath (42nd) struck for the winner after Dilip gave Reds the lead with a first-minute strike.
