Antony, Manohar shine for Central ‘A’

VIJAYAWADA: Centuries by Antony Khan (105) of North ‘B’ and T. Manohar (105 n.o.) of Central ‘A’ were the highlights of the final day’s play in the ACA u-13 inter-zonal cricket tournament at Guntur on Tuesday. North ‘B’ and Central ‘B’ garnered two points by virtue of first innings lead against ‘Central ‘A’ and Central ‘B’ respectively.

The scores:

Central ‘A’ 108 & 202 for four in 48 overs (T. Manohar 105 n.o., Ravi Teja 66, Manoj three for 56) drew with North ‘B’ 298 in 83 overs (Antony Khan 105, R. Sooraj 50, V. Mahesh three for 76).

Central ‘B’ 324 & 76 for three in 14 overs (Sai Girish 50 n.o., A. Rajesh three for seven) drew with North ‘A’ 175 in 66 overs (D. Chaitanya four for 31).

Chaitanya wins

Gudivada’s Chaitanya defeated Nalanda High School by 64 runs in the KDCA’s inter-school cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

The scores: Chaitanya (Gudivada) 134 in 34 overs (Rohit four for 26) bt Nalanda HS 70 in 16.3 overs (Nagaraju six for 26).

VRS &YRN in final

Chirala’s VRS &YRN College defeated host V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College by 85 runs in the second semifinal of the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate (inter-zonal) cricket tournament here on Tuesday. VRS & YRN will meet JKC College in the final on Thursday.

The scores: VRS &YRN College 204 for nine in 40 overs (M. Koteswara Rao 70, Ch. Prashanth five for 36) bt VRSEC 119 in 23.3 overs (Manibabu four for 22).

Vasu XI posts wins

Vasu XI beat Jolly Rovers by 20 runs in the KDCA Devineni Venkataramana-Praneetha memorial ‘B’ division league cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

The scores: Vasu XI 172 in 34 overs (Kiran 54, Sandeep four for 30, Ramakrishna three for 20) bt Jolly Rovers (Nuzvid) 152 in 35 overs (T. Srikanth 58 n.o. Madhav four for 29).

Sri Chaitanya 65 in 21 overs (Nagendra Babu seven for 17) lost MN XI 66 for three in 9.2 overs.
