We still want India to pursue deal: Mulford

NEW DELHI: Asserting that the civil nuclear deal was good for India and for the world, U.S. Ambassador David C. Mulford on Tuesday said his government continued to encourage India to move forward on deal and was also respectful of its democratic process.
Addressing an American Chambers of Commerce (AMCHAM-India) meeting here, Mr. Mulford said: “The passage of the Hyde Act last year was an outstanding example of bipartisan consensus and statesmanship within the U.S. Congress.
“Following the completion of negotiations on the 123 Agreement, we continue to encourage the government of India to move forward to complete the process that [United States] President George Bush and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have delineated and which when completed will bring profound economic and non-proliferation benefits.”
