Walsh’s camp gets underway

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: An eight-day basketball camp for youngsters under the supervision of J.D. Walsh, renowned coach of the J.D. Walsh Basketball School, New York, got underway on Monday at the JASE Sports Complex here.

Walsh was delighted to be back in India. “ JASE wants a long term tie-up and we are in the process of putting that in place,” said the American towering nearly seven feet.

Walsh said that the Indians had the natural ability and flair for the game. “One need not go by the height alone in this game. Mastering the skills of passing and dribbling and the ability to move in the right direction at the right time all add up to one’s skills. Of course shooting is an important aspect but that doesn’t come easy unless you master these fundamentals,” said Walsh.

He made training session at JASE an exciting one for 40-odd children of Jain Institutions.
