Matches end in a draw

CHENNAI: The proceedings in the season-opener in the Chennai Football Association’s senior division league on Monday began on a prosaic note with both the scheduled matches ending in goalless draws.

Indian Bank and SAI were the teams involved in the opening match, while Arrows and Chennai Customs played the second match.

An interesting sidelight of the second match was the impromptu offer of Rs. 3,000 to the ‘day’s best player’ by the chief guest Bharat, Chairman and Managing Director, Akshay Finance.

The CFA committee decided to give the award to Customs midfielder Praveen for his resourceful display.
